Did you know that pomegranate is great for pregnant moms? Have a pomegranate juice daily as it improves the blood cells of both baby and mother. Fruit and juice both are good to consume at least 2 times a week. It is a very good source of vitamin A, vitamin E, potassium and folic acid which are very vital during pregnancy. Pomegranate contains 29 mg of vitamin C, or 50 percent of the 60 mg required each day, and 107 mcg of folic acid, or 27 percent of the daily recommended intake of 400 mg. It also provides 666 mg of potassium, or 19 percent of the FDA requirement of 3,500 mg.

The body requires potassium for muscle contractions in the cardiovascular and digestive systems and to regulate the body’s balance of fluids. Vitamin C protects cells from toxins that speed aging and cause disease. Folic acid is a well-known brain and spinal birth defect preventative, and pregnant women need to take in 400 to 800 mcg of this nutrient daily. Pomegranate fruit also provides 4.7 grams of protein and 11.3 grams of fiber.

With pomegranate juice your baby will also have a fair complexion. Also eating a pomegranate daily during pregnancy will keep your baby cool inside your belly.

The television has become a great tool for entertainment in the modern age. However child experts advise limiting TV time with children, especially those under the age of five. While it seems like a practical way to entertain kids (and the easiest way, I might add) when you are preparing dinner or need to relax and read a book in peace, you shouldn’t rely on it all the time and make it a habit. Research shows that too much TV-watching can actually restrict and hinder your child’s imaginative and cognitive abilities.

Here are some fun ways to keep children off the TV set and still be able to entertain them at the same time, without stressing you out.

Play pretend. Never underestimate the power of make believe. Not only will it let your child use his imagination, research shows that imaginative kids are happier kids.

Let them help. If you are cooking, let them help in the kitchen. Make them your chef assistant. If you are cleaning the room, let them do the dusting or have them pick up things on the floor.

Do storytelling. Telling stories is magical for a child’s language development. It helps them organize their thoughts, learn vocabulary and if you let them tell their own stories, can help boost their self-esteem tremendously. When telling a story, your child will love hearing a character that resembles him!

A parent shared that when her daughter insists on watching TV, she would suggest that they make a movie using their video camera and that her daughter star on it. It helped her daughter be confident in performing and enhance her language skills tremendously.

Be imaginative. Remember, our parents’ parents survived everyday life without the television set. We can, too.

Is this your problem? Don’t worry. There is something you can do: trick them. Following are some ways i researched on how to slip vegetables into food so that they will be virtually undetectable.

STRAIN VEGETABLES:

Strain them yourself by boiling vegetables, putting them in the blender and pureeing them, then straining again. You can also keep it simple and just buy small, single-vegetable baby food jars, such as spinach, beets, green beans, squash, broccoli, carrots, sweet potatoes, peas, etc. Then covertly slip them into a number of places:

- Mix beets or carrots with pasta or pizza sauce, then add a bit more spices.

- Blend just about any strained veggies with ketchup; it masks the smell and the taste well.

- Use food flavor injectors to add carrots or beets to bit-size pizza rolls or pocket sandwiches. A little dab here and there will do you.

- Mix butternut squash in with mashed potatoes. The color is light enough that they’ll never know.

- Mix broccoli or peas into chop meat when making hamburgers. You can get half a jar into a hamburger, then bake it. With condiments, the flavor is virtually undetectable.

- Mix squash or sweet potatoes with apple sauce. Blend it well. The colors will be similar, and both vegetables are sweet enough not to sour the applesauce.

Having diaper rash is normal in babies and toddlers and is generally caused by the constant wetting and drying of ultra sensitive skin and exposure to chemicals and moisture of urine and stools. No matter how you keep your baby’s bottom clean and dry, they will likely develop a diaper rash at some point.

How to avoid diaper rashes?

Always keep the skin dry. As quickly as possible change wet diapers. Limit your baby’s bottom exposure to irritants such as soap. Use mild soap to launder cloth diapers and rinse well. Do not use wipes containing alcohol when cleaning the infant to avoid irritation. If possible, let your baby’s bottom more time in the open air, reduce the use of diapers. Try switching the type of diapers you are using if your baby is having a recurring problem with diaper rash.

Other ways to help reduce friction and protect the baby’s skin from irritation is to use ointments or creams. Others use powders such as cornstarch or talc but they should be used cautiously, as they may cause lung injury when inhaled by the infant.
