October 15, 2013 a non-working holiday to celebrate EIDUL ADHA

President Benigno S. Aquino III has declared October 15, 2013 as regular, non-working holiday under Proclamation No. 658  throughout the country in observance of EIDUL ADHA (FEAST OF SACRIFICE).

Eidul Adha is one of the two greatest feasts of Islam, the date of the festival is based on the declaration made by Saudi Arabia’s highest religious body.

Dubbed as the “Feast of Sacrifice”, it was the day when prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) sacrifice his young first-born son Ismael (Ishmael) as an act of submission to God’s command, before God intervened to provide Abraham with a Lamb to sacrifice instead.
