Microsoft Philippines Officially Launches Windows 8

Microsoft Philippines has launched Windows 8 for local consumers just days after the OS was unveiled in New York City.

“We are launching a product that will respond to the needs of today’s brave new world where the lines between work and play have all but disappeared,” Microsoft Philippines managing director Karrie Capellan-Ilagan said.

“Windows 8 is the most-tested, reviewed, and ready OS in Microsoft’s history,” Ilagan said, describing the new software as the “boldest” system ever released by Microsoft, the company responsible for the global boom in personal computing.

Starting this week, Windows 8 will be  available on more than 1,000 Windows 8 certified PCs and tablets from hardware vendors such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, Sony, and Toshiba.

Through the end of January, consumers currently running PCs with Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7, are qualified to download Windows 8 Pro for an estimated retail price of $39.99. Windows 8 will be available for download onto existing PCs in over 140 markets and37 languages.

And eligible Windows 7 PCs purchased between June 2, 2012, and January 31, 2013 in more than 140 countries can download Windows 8 Pro for an estimated retail price of $14.99 with the Windows Upgrade Offer.
